Khatm Quran refers to reading the Holy Quran from beginning to the end in one or more sessions.

The Dar-ul-Quran Center of the Astan announced the completion of its technical, logistical and administrative preparations for launching its Ramadan Quran project, which will include 253 Khatm Quran sessions during the holy month. Of these, 133 sessions will be for men, 95 sessions for women and 25 sessions will be held at Iraqi universities.

Wassam Nadir al-Delfi, head of the Dar-ul-Quran’s Media Center, said the central recitation session is held in five sessions daily, during which a complete Juz (part) of the Holy Quran is recited. “More than sixty qaris will participate in the program. In addition to Iraqi qaris, Dar-ul-Quran will also host reciters from other countries, including Iran, Egypt, Lebanon and Bahrain.”

He added that the project will implemented in several areas of the holy city of Karbala, where more than eight Quran recitation sessions will be held.

The project will also include holding 25 Quran recitation sessions in Iraqi universities and institutions to promote the Quranic culture in academic circles, he stated.

According to al-Delfi, more than 220 Quran recitation sessions will be held in Dar-ul-Quran branches and schools spread across 17 Iraqi provinces.

“In addition, programs, seminars and Quranic discussions will be held as part of the activities of the nights of the holy month of Ramadan.”

He noted that a media plan has been finalized in cooperation with the Media Department and Karbala TV Network to cover the recitation events and broadcast them live from the Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine’s courtyard to audiences inside and outside Iraq.
