Sheikh Maher Hamoud stressed on Thursday that supporting the resistance is a “religious duty” and called on the nation to stand by it, Al-Mayadeen reported.
In a press conference titled “The Religious Position on the Resistance,” Sheikh Hamoud said the political aspect and general perspective of the resistance are not subject to any specific ideology or doctrine, and emphasized that Iran does not interfere in the situation in Lebanon and that it is the Lebanese people who decide.
He also criticized the statement issued on April 16 by the Lebanese government, asking, “How can the Lebanese government admit in its statement that there is no enmity between Israel and Lebanon, but rather with Hezbollah?”
Sheikh Hamoud affirmed that the refugees “are our people and their steadfastness is part of the resistance,” adding, “There are those who are trying to create a rift between the resistance and its people, and this will not happen.”
In another part of his speech, he said Iran has brought America to its knees, and US President Donald Trump is confused after his military defeat in the face of Iran’s resistance.

He stressed that anyone who bases their decisions on the assumption that the resistance is over must retract their statement. “The resistance is inflicting heavy losses on the enemy despite the constant Israeli attacks.”
He added, “Some have surrendered to the logic of American dominance, but this reality will not last, because the balance of power in the region is changing rapidly.”
