IQNA – The Omar Bin Khattab Mosque and School is one of the most prominent emerging Quranic projects in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and the construction and development of its various parts are currently underway.

A high-ranking delegation from the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia conducted its first field visit to the Omar Bin Khattab Mosque and School project in Addis Ababa.

In a move that reflects the commitment of Islamic institutions in Ethiopia to supporting Quranic and educational projects and promoting social activities, a high-ranking delegation from the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia conducted its first field visit to the Omar Bin Khattab Mosque and School project in Addis Ababa, to assess the progress of construction work on one of the most prominent emerging Quranic projects in the country, the Muslimsaroundthe world website reported.

At the end of its visit, the delegation honored a young missionary in recognition of his efforts in serving orphans and the needy and promoting Quranic education.

The visit was chaired by Sheikh Abdulkarim Sheikh Badreddine, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia, at the head of a delegation consisting of a number of senior officials of the council, and within the framework of supporting religious and educational institutions and following up on Quranic projects.

The Omar Bin Khattab Quranic Center dates back to 1980 according to the Ethiopian calendar, which roughly corresponds to the late 1980s according to the Gregorian calendar. The Ethiopian year differs by about seven to eight years from the Gregorian year.

The center includes departments for teaching Quran recitation and memorization, as well as a Quranic college. Currently, the site is undergoing a construction and development project for various parts of the mosque and the school.

During the visit, Abdul Fattah Sheikh Mustafa, the secretary general of the project, provided the delegation with a detailed explanation of the implementation stages, stating that work is underway to complete the entire project within a year, while the construction of the mosque is expected to be completed in just three months, and efforts are ongoing to equip and open the mosque for worshipers and students.

Stating that the school, despite ongoing construction, continues to hold Quran recitation classes, he called on the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to provide the necessary support for the project so that it can achieve its religious and educational goals more broadly.

In another part of the visit, the delegation visited the Al-Amanah-Abdul Fattah Foundation for Orphans and the Needy, which is run by Abdul Fattah Sheikh Mustafa. The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs presented Abdul Fattah with a plaque of appreciation and a commemorative robe in appreciation of his efforts in serving orphans and the needy, promoting charitable works and teaching the Quran.

The visit included three key messages: supporting Quranic and educational projects by pursuing a major religious and educational project in the Ethiopian capital; strengthening social partnerships by inviting the community to participate and support the completion of the project; and encouraging youth initiatives by honoring a young missionary for his service to orphans and the needy and his support for Quranic education.
