Imam Ali Shrine Ready to Celebrate Int’l Ghadir Week

IQNA – The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine in Najaf, Iraq, announced its full readiness to hold the programs of the International Ghadir Week of 1447 AH.

A ceremony held in Iraq to raise the flag of Ghadir

 

According to the website of the Astan, the Alawi Shrine has completed all technical, administrative and special service measures for the celebration of Eid al-Ghadir inside and outside Iraq.

There will be comprehensive and diverse religious, cultural, ideological and media programs for different segments of society so that this occasion is celebrated in a manner worthy of its grandeur and status.

Also, all departments and executive forces of the Astan will participate in the ceremonies and will strive to celebrate this day in a worthy manner.

Wissam Iskander, head of the "Nazm" Center of the Strategic Planning and Development Unit of the Astan, said Ghadir Week will witness a special press conference to announce the details of the programs for this blessed occasion.

He noted that earlier, the Astan held a ceremony in the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS), during which the blessed Ghadir flags were handed over to representatives of delegations, institutions, processions and social organizations to hold the Ghadir flag raising ceremony in the announced places.

Iskander said it was also announced at this ceremony that more than 150 blessed Ghadir flags will be raised inside and outside Iraq.

The Ghadir Week programs will include competitions, Quranic gatherings, remembrance gatherings, ceremonies honoring the needy and special programs for children, Iskandar stated.

According to Karrar al-Mousavi, head of the Astan’s public relations department, under the supervision of the General Secretariat of the Alawi Shrine and as part of the Eid al-Ghadir week programs, more than 150 blessed flags will be raised in an official ceremony with the participation of special delegations and servants of the holy mausoleum.

He said Ghadir flags will be raised in Iraq at holy shrines and sacred sites as well as 20 places in different provinces of Iraq in coordination with organizations, institutions, processions and social groups.

Al-Mousavi added that Ghadir flags will also be raised in 20 Iranian provinces that have been the target of Zionist-American aggression, and in eight European countries, five American states and other parts of the world.

He went on to say that the flag-raising ceremony will be coordinated with international media and official and public representatives will participate in it.

The event of Ghadir, or Eid al-Ghadir is celebrated by Shia Muslims around the world every year.

It is among important feasts and happy holidays of Shia Muslims held on the 18th day of Dhul Hijjah in the lunar Hijri calendar, which falls on Thursday, June 4, this year.

Ghadir was the day when according to reports, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) appointed Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) as his caliph and the Imam after himself following an order from God.
