Martyred Leader’s Funeral Processions to Be Held in Tehran, Qom, Mashhad

IQNA – Funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, will be held in three cities of Iran, an official said.

The deputy mayor of Tehran said at a meeting of the Cultural and Social Commission of Iranian Metropolitan Cities that three days of funeral have been planned for the martyred Leader.

Mohammad Amin Tavakkolizadeh added the funeral processions are going to take place in the cities of Tehran, Qom and Mashhad.

“We are preparing to host a population of between 15 and 20 million people in the (procession in the) capital.”

Tavakolizadeh stated that the funeral ceremony will last at least 24 hours and that the place where the funeral ceremony will probably be held will be the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) or the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini south of Tehran.

He said that according to his will, the martyred Leader’s body will be laid to rest in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad.

It is likely that Pakistani, Afghan, Indian and Bangladeshi mourners will attend the procession in Mashhad, he went on to say, adding that holding the funeral ceremony for the martyred Leader in Iraq is also being considered.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was martyred in US-Israeli strikes on his office in Tehran on February 28.
