Terror Alert in Edinburgh: Knife Man's Anti-Muslim Rampage Leaves City on Edge
Five people were injured by the knifeman, with all of the victims reportedly hailing from the Muslim community.
A series of incidents was reported on Friday, June 19, with violent attacks, threats, robbery and vandalism allegedly seen across the west of the Scottish capital and Leith.
At 8.50pm, two men understood to have been attacked near Broomhill Mosque were found injured in the Sighthill area of the city.
A third man, understood to be an Asian Deliveroo driver, was then found injured on Telford Road. The fourth and fifth male victims were said to have been attacked in an area at Leith Walk.
Two of the victims are aged 22, while the others are aged 24, 27 and 29. They have all sustained a range of injuries. Thankfully, these are not life-threatening, but three of the victims required hospital treatment.
According to MEND Scotland, a Muslim engagement group, those injured are part of the Muslim community.
A 36-year-old Scottish man was arrested and remains in custody, with Counter-Terrorism Policing Scotland investigating the incidents.
Social media footage appears to show a man being arrested on Leith Walk and being restrained by a taser before being detained.
The footage reportedly shows him shouting ‘I’m protecting the ... country’ at police officers as he is handcuffed.

The British Muslim Trust posted on X: ‘We are horrified by reports that the perpetrator of the suspected anti-Muslim attacks in Edinburgh allegedly claimed he was “protecting the country from these … Muslim … raping our young daughters”.

‘Anti-Muslim hostility does not exist in a vacuum and we urge all to take responsibility for their words. In particular, Muslims in Scotland are also expressing concern about increased far-right activity and the anti-Muslim hate and rhetoric they espouse.
‘We urge Police Scotland and all relevant authorities to respond robustly and ensure affected communities receive the support, reassurance and protection they need.’
Other videos show a topless man carrying a large blade while walking along Leith Walk and smashing the windows of retailers in the area.
