IQNA – A Quran recitation ceremony was held on the day of Ashura in the holy city of Karbala.

The Holy Quran Scientific Assembly, affiliated with the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine, organized the Quranic event, Al-Kafeel reported.

Sheikh Jawad al-Nasrawi, director of the assembly said it commemorated the day of Ashura by reciting the Quran and presenting its spiritual reward to Imam Hussein (AS), his family and his companions.

He added that the Quran recitation ceremony was held with the participation of a large number of mourners, during which, following the example of Imam Hussein (AS) who spent the night before Ashura reciting the Word of God, parts of the Holy Quran were recited.

Al-Nasrawi explained that this program was part of the annual activities organized by the Holy Quran Scientific Assembly, and that its aim is to strengthen the Quranic values ​​and principles of Imam Hussein (AS), who sacrificed himself, his family, and his companions to uphold them.
