Developing Ties with Iraq A Top Priority for Iran: Spokesman

IQNA – Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance that Tehran attaches to developing relations with Baghdad.

Baghaei, who is accompanying Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a visit to Baghdad, wrote in an Arabic message on X Sunday, “Greetings to the great and brotherly country, Iraq.”

He added, “We arrived in Baghdad together with the honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs. After paying homage to the commanders of Nasr (victory), we will have meetings with our Iraqi brothers, including the president, prime minister, and minister of foreign affairs.”

Baghaei underlined in the message that “developing relations with Iraq, a country with which we have deep cultural and civilizational ties, will always remain at the top of Tehran’s priorities.”

The Iranian top diplomat has traveled to Iraq for talks with senior Iraqi officials on bilateral relations and regional and international developments.
