Iran Condemns Latest US Strikes, Vows to Punish Aggressors
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said US forces carried out attacks in the early hours of the day, targeting several locations in Iran's southern coastal provinces as well as two bridges along the railway line leading to the holy city of Mashhad.
The ministry said the strikes constituted a clear violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and breached Articles 1 and 5 of the June 18 Cessation of Hostilities Agreement. It said Washington using alleged incidents involving vessels in the Strait of Hormuz as a pretext for the attacks and described the operation as further evidence of US non-compliance with the agreement.
The statement also said the attacks came as millions of Iranians participated in farewell ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, arguing that the large public turnout demonstrated the nation's resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministry further condemned "insulting" remarks by US President Donald Trump and other American officials, saying their statements and actions reflected Washington's continued hostility toward Iran.
Expressing condolences to the families of those martyred in the strikes, including members of Iran's armed forces, the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that the Islamic Republic would defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity and "punish the aggressors," adding that US "bullying and duplicity" would not undermine Iran's rights or national interests.
