"The joy of the friendly nation and government of Spain is the joy of the people and government of Iran," he added.

In a separate message, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf congratulated the presidents of Spain's Senate and Congress of Deputies on the Spanish national team's World Cup victory.

Ghalibaf praised Spain's support for the Palestinian people as well as the Spanish players' solidarity with Palestine, saying such positions reflected the country's commitment to justice and human dignity.

He also expressed appreciation for Spain's backing of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the US-Israeli war of aggression.

"The defense of the Palestinian nation by your country and the players of the Spanish national team, together with Spain's support for the Islamic Republic of Iran during the third imposed war, demonstrated that the spirit of freedom and resistance to domination are among the defining characteristics of your wise and respected nation," the Iranian parliament speaker said.
