TEHRAN (IQNA) – Anti-arrogance gatherings will be held in 800 cities in Iran on Thursday to mark the Day of Fighting Global Arrogance, an official said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ashjari

Speaking at a press conference here in Tehran on Tuesday, Hojat-ol-Islam Ashjari, the deputy head of Iran’s Islamic Propagation Coordination Council, said the programs will start at 10 AM on November 4.

In Tehran, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami will address the gathering, he added.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ashjari noted that like previous years, “Death to America” will reverberate in the gatherings across the country.

They will be held in compliance with the health protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the cleric noted.

He added that the main theme of this year’s events will be “steadfastness and resistance of the Iranian nation, secret to the decline of the United States’ arrogant domination”.

According to the official, some 3,500 journalists, photographers and cameramen, including 110 from foreign countries, will cover the programs.

He said there will be more than 400,000 in-person and virtual forums on the occasion with the theme of fighting arrogance.

Students will be the main addressees of these forums, Hojat-ol-Islam Ashjari went on to say.

November 4, will mark the anniversary of the US embassy seizure, which marks the Day of Fighting Global Arrogance.

On November 4, 1979, less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students who called themselves “students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)’ seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban, the Iranian nation, especially students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.
