Ottoman Era Quran on Display at Egypt’s Hurghada Museum

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The museum of historical works in the Egyptian city of Hurghada showcases various items dating back to different eras in history.

Among them is a copy of the Quran decorated with Taz’hib (illumination) that belongs to the Ottoman era, according to Youm7.com.

The copy dates back to the year 1259 Hijri (1843) and has been put on display at the museum for the first time.

It has been calligraphed by a Katib (calligrapher) named Sayed Ali Nouri.

The first page of the book, which contains Surah Al-Fatiha, has various Taz’hib decorations.

The Quran is on display in a glass case next to historical data-x-items belonging to the Alawid dynasty of Egypt.  

Hurghada is a beach resort town stretching some 40km along Egypt’s Red Sea coast.
