The movement of Imam Hussein (AS) is more an ethical movement than a political one.

Head of the Scientific Council of Religious Researchers Mohammad Javad Sahebi made the remark on Saturday in a forum titled “Ethical Manifestations in Imam Hussein’s (AS) Movement”.

He said the ethical aspects of the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) have been overshadowed in today’s society by its political dimensions.

“Today, more than ever, we are in need of Ashura teachings and should revive the ethical aspects of the Ashura uprising.”

Sahebi referred to ethics as something that distinguishes religion from non-religion and Islam from other than Islam.

He said the ethical uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) was aimed at paving the way for rectifying the ethical paths of the society.

He stated that reforming the individual and the society is not possible without reforming the government and social systems.

Sahebi further elaborated on different aspects of the ethical teachings of Ashura and the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS).

The “Ethical Manifestations in Imam Hussein’s (AS) Movement” was held hosted by the secretariat of the Scientific Council of Religious Researchers.

A number of seminarians and university scholars took part in the forum, which was the first in a series featuring the Ashura uprising.
