Jakarta Hosting Quran, Hadith Memorization Contest

A national competition on memorization of the Quran and Hadiths kicked off in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Tuesday morning.

174 memorizers from 59 cities of the country are participating in the national event, Akhbar Al-Yawm website reported.

The competition is held in the categories of memorization of Nabawi Hadiths, memorization of the entire Quran and memorization of 20, 15, and 10 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.

The contest, held under the supervision of the deputy religious affairs minister Nasreddin Omar, will conclude on Wednesday, January 22.

A number of ambassadors of Muslim countries, directors of Islamic institutes and top religious figures have been invited to take part in the closing ceremony.
