Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Reza Heshmati, the Quran and Etrat deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, added that Takfiri groups are one of the main troubles for the Muslim world today.
He made the remark at the first session of the policy-making council of the 5th International Holy Quran Competition for Muslim Students.
The contest is slated to be held in January 2015 in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hojat-ol-Islam Heshmati said the Zionists' support for the Takfiri groups is obvious but noted that their actions are carried out in the name of Islam and distort the image of Islam.
He stated that all Muslims should condemn these groups and referred to the Quran competition for Muslim students as a good venue for that.
According to the culture ministry official, programs should be included on the sidelines of the competition to help the participants get familiar with the Takfiris and their activities and objectives.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Heshmati said the international competition should aim to promote the Quran at the international level.
The first session of the policy-making council of the contest was held in Tehran on Monday, May 12.
It was attended by a number of other Quranic, cultural and academic officials, including head of the University Jihad () Hamid Reza Tayyebi, Secretary of the Competition Hamid Saber Farzam, and Deputy Head of the Supreme Quran Council Seyyed Ali Sarabi.
