Saffar-Harandi told IQNA that according to the usual procedures, one official body or a prominent grassroots association requests for a proposal to the Public Culture Council and if verified, the proposal will be raised in the Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution to be fixed as an official day of Iranian calendar.
The minister pointed to the fact that the almighty God has specified day and month of the holy Quran and that the month of Ramadan is considered the spring of the divine book.
"The idea that one specific day of the holy month of Ramadan be designated as the National Quran Day ought to be studied carefully ," he added.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had previously hailed the idea of designating a day as the National Quran Day.
