-- The 11th edition of Ma’az national Quran competition in Yemen came to a close yesterday, July 19, in the city of Ta’az.
According to Saba news agency, the contest was co-organized by the Scientific Society for Serving the Noble Quran and the holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Sunnah and the World Society for Memorization of the Holy Quran.
117 memorizers from 26 Quranic institutes from 14 provinces attended the contest which was held separately for men and women. The top contestants were selected based on their memorization level and their mastery over the rules of Tajweed.
Winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates of honor at the closing ceremony held yesterday.
Addressing the ceremony, Yassir Al-Harbi representative of the World Society for Memorization of the Holy Quran appreciated the Scientific Society for Serving the Noble Quran for its efforts in joining together the activities of Quranic centers and institutes in Yemen.
