Winners of Malaysia Quran Contest Announced

-- Egyptian Quran reciter Hani Abdul Aziz Al-Husseini Ahmed won the first title in the men’s category of Malaysia’s 52nd International Holy Quran Competition.
This was announced Tuesday night at the closing ceremony of the event, IQNA’s correspondent reports.
The ceremony was held at the Putra World Trade Center with the presence of Malaysia’s King Mizan Zainul Abidin and a number of other high-ranking officials. It began with Tawasheeh (religious song) performance followed by a speech by Muhammad Sheikh Abdul Aziz who headed the jury panel of the competition.
He praised the competition’s organizers and said the quality of the contestants’ recitations was quite good.
He also thanked the members of the jury panel for their fair and balanced judgments.
Then the competition’s winners were announced as follows:
In the men’s category Hani Abdul Aziz Al-Husseini Ahmed from Egypt came first scoring 91.46 points while Ainudin bin Abdullah from Malaysia and Abdul Wadud Esmaeel from the Philippines won the second and third titles, respectively. The fourth place went to Iranian representative Mahmud Rangraz who scored 88.33 points.
In the women’s category Samia Hannan from Pakistan was the champion while reciters from Brunei and the Philippines came second and third, respectively.
Concluding the ceremony was awarding the top winners of the men’s and women’s categories.
Malaysia’s 52nd International Holy Quran Competition was held from July 27 to August 3 with the participation of 76 reciters from 47 countries.
