World's Leading Specialists in Islamic Legal Theory Converge on Oman for Symposium
Some of the world's most recognized and renowned authorities in Islamic Law and Islamic Legal Theory are meeting in Muscat Oman to attend a four-day symposium exploring the future direction of legal theory in the Muslim world.
The four-day Symposium for Developing Jurisprudential Sciences, which started yesterday at the Grand Hayat Muscat Hotel, has attracted many illustrious participants.
These include Dr. Wahbah al-Zuhaili of Syria, Egypt's Mufti Dr. Ali Jumu, and Syria's Dr. Abdul Satar Abu Ghudda.
Other high-profile participants are Dr Mahmoud Habash, Palestinian Endowments Minister; Dr Mohammed Rokara, Adviser of Kenyan President; Noor Aldeen al Khadami, Religious Affairs Minister in Tunis; and Fughiran Dato Siristya from Brunei Darussalam.
Scholars also hail from Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria, Libya and Sweden, in addition to Oman.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad al-Khalili, Oman's Grand Mufti delivered a speech where he said that the symposium is a great opportunity to gather and study the jurisprudence.
Dr. Ali Juma, Mufti of Egypt, said in a speech that the understanding of jurisprudence changes according to time, therefore we should understand the aims of Sharia and the realities of our lives so that we ensure meeting the needs of the people and their countries.
