A plot of land measuring over 1000-square-meter has been allocated by the Municipality of Tyumen Province of Russia for construction of a new mosque in the region.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the province's Office for Muslims' Religious Affairs announced that the construction project of the city’s grand mosque will begin in April 2013.
The site was allocated for building a mosque following the request made by Islamic organizations and institutes of the region to meet the needs of the increasing number of Muslims in the province.
Currently, there are four mosques in Tyumen Province, which are actively involved in Quranic and Islamic affairs.
Russia has a Muslim population estimated around 20 million. Most of them live in the southern provinces of the country.
