Al-Azhar Sheikh to Meet with Iran’s President
The Sheikh of Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center is to meet with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday, the center announced today.
Ahmed Al-Tayyeb will host Dr Ahmadinejad and his accompanying delegation at Al-Azhar, Al-Ahram website reported.
Members of the Egyptian center’s Islamic Studies Assembly and its Senior Scholars Board will also be present in the meeting.
President Ahmadinejad plans to visit Cairo to attend the summit of the OIC member states, due to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, February 6-7.
Titled “Islamic World, New Challenges and Opportunities”, the summit will discuss various issues including settlement building in the occupied lands, the Syrian crisis, the situation in Somalia, and confronting Islamophobia in the world.
