The rally is planned on the first anniversary of the cleric’s detainment, Al-Awamiya news network reported.
Saudi youth using social networks have invited the people of the region to attend the grand rally and voice their support for Ayatollah Nimr.
Ayatollah Nimr was attacked, injured and arrested by Saudi security forces while driving from a farm to his house in Qatif on July 8, 2012.
He has been in prison ever since and the Saudi regime has refused to release him despite demonstrations held in his support.
Since February 2011, Saudi protesters have held numerous demonstrations calling for the release of all political prisoners, freedom of expression and assembly, and an end to widespread discrimination.
