According to Al-Bayan newspaper, the competition was organized by Mirath Center of the country on the sidelines of the 8th Ramadan Festival in the UAE.
It was supervised by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, head of the center and deputy of the UAE’s Prime Minister.
27 representatives from Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Sudan, Morocco, Yemen, Senegal, Bangladesh and Pakistan competed in two groups of teenagers and the youth.
15 participants were memorizers of the entire Quran and 7 of them were under 20 years of age.
Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Mus’adani and Sheikh Muhammad Salam were members of the jury panel of the contest headed by Ibrahim Al-Jenabi.
The Quran recitation by Ahmad Abdul Naser Al-Motawalla, 17-year-old participants from Egypt, who recited the verses in Warsh narration, won the applause of the panel and the audience.
Al-Bayan also reported that the first stage of the contest was held on July 11 at Abu Dhabi Theater Hall with the participation of 26 representatives from the UAE, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Bangladesh, Sudan, Comoros Islands, Somalia and Jordan.
Encouraging the youth to read, memorize and learn Tajweed principles of the Holy Quran was the main objective of organizing the international event.
