Tobias Schneider, who is in charge of the German pavilion at the Quran and Culture of Nations Section of the 21st International Holy Quran Exhibition, told IQNA that Muslims in Germany, like those in the US, France and other countries, have not been safe from the outcome of sinister Islamophobic activities of some media.
He said the media have a lot of influence on the people and their mindset and no one can deny their impact on society, adding that despite activities of the Muslim minority in Germany to promote Islamic culture and values, the country’s Muslims have not been safe from Islamophobic propaganda.
Schneider said Muslims should act upon the teachings of the Holy Quran and follow Quranic models so as not to give pretexts to opportunists and the enemies of Islam.
“When someone confronts the beautiful and ethical behavior and conduct of a Muslim, he would never accept the anti-Islamic propaganda spread by the media.”
The German Muslim further referred to the activities of the German pavilion at the Quran and Culture of Nations Section, saying that it answers the visitors’ questions and provides them with information about the life of Muslims in Germany.
He described some of the activities of Muslims in Germany and said that special sessions are held for Muslim youth, for instance by the “German-speaking Muslims Association” in the city of Hamburg to promote Quranic and Islamic teachings.
He also underlined the role of religious centers in fostering Islamic teachings and said the Imam Ali (AS) Mosque in Hamburg is one of these centers whose scholars and experts work to spread Islamic values.
As for German Muslims’ activities in the holy month of Ramadan, he said in this month, Muslims hold religious session in mosques, religious centers or at home to read the Quran and discuss Islamic issues.
