Davoud Taal Seyedi who is in charge of Senegal’s desk at the “Quran and Culture of Nations” Section of the 21 Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that the exhibition provides an opportunity for representatives of different countries to learn more about the Shia culture.
He hoped that such exhibitions will be held in other Muslim countries in order to pave the way for spread of Islamic sciences and enhancement of Muslim unity.
Seyedi further referred to the spread of Shia Islam in Senegal and said the country’s Shia Muslims are free to practice their religion.
He noted that followers of different sects and religions live peacefully together in Senegal and all religions are equal before the law.
Seyedi also said he learned about Shia Islam in 1993 after meeting one of his friends who had converted to Shi’ism.
“He talked to me about Shi’ism’s spiritual teachings and Shias’ high respect for the Household of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). I then studied extensively about Shia Islam and embraced it afterward.”
The Senegalese Shia Muslim went on to say that he has attended the Quran exhibition to inrtodcue the culture of Senegal to the visitors.
