Supreme Leader’s advisor in Muslim world affairs Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri made the remark in a meeting with Ilshad Eskandarov, religious advisor to the president of the Azerbaijan Republic, hoping that with cooperation between the two countries’ scholars, individuals will be trained to stand up against the Takfiri current.
He also said the ties between Tehran and Baku are so strong that no one can undermine the bilateral relations.
The head of the Supreme Council of the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought noted the experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in promoting proximity and cooperation between Shia and Sunni Muslims can be an example for the entire Muslim world.
He hoped that cooperation between the two countries for enhancing Islamic unity and solidarity will be fruitful, adding that Iran is ready to cooperate with all Muslim countries to spread proximity among Islamic schools of thought.
The Azerbaijani official for his part said his visit to Iran was aimed at developing and deepening religious ties between the two countries.
He said cooperation between Tehran and Baku can be helpful for the entire Muslim world and can be positive in resolving differences and problems.
Ilshad Eskandarov described the Takfiris as being harmful for the Muslim world and said they do harm to Islam, not to a certain sect.
He further said that the Republci of Azerbaijan is planning to hold an international conference on “Relations between Religion and State” next year, asking Iran to cooperate in organizing the event.
