Quran Memorization Contest for Students Held in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Quran Association recently held a Quran memorization contest for students at different schools of Colombo city.


The categories of the contest included memorization of the entire Quran based on Ibn Jazari method, memorization of the Holy Quran along with meaning of the Quranic terms and memorization of the entire Quran along with Nabawi Hadiths.

65 male and female students participated at the contest held at Shahran Hall of the city.

The Quranic competitions were supervised by 6 Quran experts of the region.

Top Quran memorizers from among the students of the city were honored in a ceremony at the end of the contest.

Sheikh Mohammad Mahir, director of Dar-ol-Quran Al-Karim Center, Sheikh Abdul Khaliq and Ramiz, in charge of Colombo mosques as well as a number of Quran activists and citizens were present at the ceremony.

Islam in Sri Lanka is practiced by 9.7% of the population in this country. 1,967,227 persons adhering Islam as per the census of 2012.
