Moderation Is Basis of Islam, Jordanian Minister Says
Addressing an international forum titled “Islamic Unity and Tolerance”, Hayel Abdulhafez Dawud added that Muslim scholars ought to promote moderation, unity and tolerance in the Muslims world, al-Dastoru daily reported.
He said Islam is under attack by the enemies as well as some from within who are distorting the image of the religion.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Jordanian minister referred to the Zionist attacks on al-Aqsa Mosque and said defending the holy mosque is every Muslim’s duty.
The “Islamic Unity and Tolerance” forum was held on Sunday in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
Muslim scholars and figures from countries like Tunisia, Algeria, Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Egypt, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Turkey took part in the international event.
