They opened the doors to the Richmond mosque this weekend in the hopes of answering some of the common questions people have about their religion.
They called it ‘A Journey Into Islam.’
High school and university students in charge of the event used food and dialogue to give people a chance to learn more about the practices.
Samaah Jaffer says it’s important, especially with all the perceptions of the religion floating around in today’s day and age.
“As Muslims ourselves, we are taught to seek knowledge and to share our knowledge once we’ve attained it. Just share what we believe in and what we feel is important, and because there obviously are a lot of misunderstandings in what the faith describes.”
The theme of this year’s presentation was ‘social responsibility.’
The event took place yesterday at the Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre in Richmond in Vancouver, Canada.
