Center for Interfaith Dialogue to Be Established in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) - A Center for Interfaith Dialogue is planned to be established in Egypt under the supervision of Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Shiekh of Al-Azhar.


According to Al-Youm Al-Sabi’ website, the center will be directed by Mahmoud Hamdi Zakzouk, member of Al-Azhar University's Council of Senior Scholars.

Members of the center will include Sami Muhammad Mandour, a lecturer at the university’s Faculty of Language and Translation, Kamal Buraiqa’ Abdulsalam, Secretary of the university’s Department of Islamic Studies in English, Reza Muhammad Hussein Al-Daqeeq, Secretary of Belief and Philosophy at the Faculty of the Principles of Religion in Tanta, Muhammad Abdul Fudhail Abdul Rahim, supervisor of the university’s branch of Islamic Studies in German and Muhammad Al-Sulaymani, researcher in Islam-Christianity Dialogue and member of World Association for al-Azhar Graduates .

The main objectives of the center will include disseminating the culture of dialogue among followers of different faiths and developing peaceful coexistence among them.

The center will stress common values among religions and strengthen cooperation between Al-Azhar and religious centers.
