TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 10th edition of Jordan’s International Quran Competition for women came to a conclusion in a ceremony on Saturday.

Asghar Khosravi, an official with Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, told IQNA that the country’s representative Hajar Mehralian came 5th in the competition’s memorization of the entire Quran category.

He added that the representative of Algeria bagged the first prize in this category while memorizers from Bahrain, Tunisia and Palestine came second to fourth, respectively.

According to Khosravi, Quran memorizers from 23 countries attended this edition of the competition.
Jordan’s International Holy Quran Competition is held every year for both men and women.

The women’s contest is organized in the lunar month of Rajab (which falls on April 20- May 19 this year) while the men’s contest takes place in the holy month of Ramadan (June-July).

Mohammad Reza Ahamdi, a memorizer of the entire Quran, will represent the Islamic Republic in the men’s section of Quranic event this year.

Last year, Mojtaba Fardfani and Elham Hosseinzadeh competed for Iran in the men’s and women’s sections, respectively. None of them was among the top winners in their respective category.
