Religious preachers delivered sermons highlighting the importance of the occasion at various places of worship even as the devout kept themselves engaged in prayers, recitation of Quran and ‘Naat khwani’ (couplets recited in the praise of the holy Prophet, PBUH) throughout the night.
The main Shab-e-Meraj gathering was held at the revered Hazratbal shrine where thousands of people from various parts of the Valley gathered for the night-long special prayers and for catching a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
The premises of the shrine were brightly lit and it wore a festive look as people of all age groups thronged the area amidst the nearby rows of food and other stalls.
Seeking Allah's forgiveness and blessings, the faithful prayed for peace in the Valley and also for the fulfillment of their wishes, especially while the holy relic was on display.
People continued to offer prayers in throngs during the entire day today after last night’s ‘Shab Khwani’ at Hazratbal.
