According to Hashemi, director of the Astan Quds Razavi Museum’s Department of Manuscripts, the manuscript copy of the Holy Book dates back to the 12th Century Hijri (18th century C.E.).
He said Mohammad Reza Gohari, who has donated the copy to the Astan, bought it in 1994 during a trip to the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Hashemi noted that the Quran copy was written in 1764 in beautiful Maghribi Naskh script, IRIB News reported.
He went on to say that a special kind of herbal ink was used in writing the rare Quran manuscript, which makes it more valuable.
The official concluded by saying that Mr. Gohari has gifted the copy to the Astan Quds Razavi because of his devotion to Imam Reza (AS).
The Astan Quds Razavi serves as the custodianship of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad.
