Senegal Hosts Int’l Islam and Peace Conference
TEHRAN (IQNA) – An international conference on “Islam and Peace” was organized in the Senegalese Capital of Dhakar on Tuesday.
It was attended by scholars, religious figures, civil activists and politicians from different countries, IINA reported.
The event was aimed at promoting world peace, enhancing participation of women and youths in efforts to develop peace, and defining societies’ responsibilities in terms of fostering the culture of peace.
It also aimed to dispel the misconceptions existing about Islam, which is a religion of peace and kindness.
The conference was sponsored by Senegal’s President Macky Sall.
Senegal is a country in West Africa. Islam is the predominant religion in the country. 92 percent of its population is estimated to be Muslim.
