8th Meeting of Islamic Radios and TVs Union Kicks off in Tehran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 8th congress of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union was launched in a ceremony in Tehran on Sunday.

It began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Karimian, the director general of the union.


He noted that the motto of the congress is “Prophet of Mercy; Mission of Resistance Media”.


It has been organized with the aim of mobilizing the media to dispel the baseless myths about connection between Islam and violence, he added.


According to Hojat-ol-Islam Karimian, a number of programs and events have been planned on the sidelines of the congress.


They include the fifth exhibition of media technology which showcases the latest achievements in media technology and media interactions, he said.


The 6th festival of the union, a gathering of cyber media activists and unveiling the Halal Media certification are among other sideline programs, Hojat-ol-Islam Karimian stated.


There is also the sixth Islamic films market, in which 800 films will be presented, he went on to say.
