EHRAN (IQNA) – Today, November 30, marks the 27th anniversary of the death of Abdul Basit 'Abd us-Samad.

He was one of the most renowned Quran reciters in Egypt and throughout the Muslim world.

Born in 1927, Abdul Basit won three world Quran recitation competitions in the early 1970s.

He was one of the first president of the Reciters’ Union in Egypt.

Many modern reciters in Egypt and other Muslim world countries try to imitate his style.
