At the end of the protest rally, which was held at Imam Hussein (AS) square in the capital, the participants issued a statement in which they enumerated and condemned the Al Saud regime’s wicked acts in the past few decades including its support for former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, the massacre of Hajj pilgrims in 1987, the spread of terrorism in the region and involvement in the killing of oppressed people in Syria, Bahrain, Yemen, Nigeria and elsewhere.
They also slammed the silence of the so-called advocates of human rights over the atrocities committed by the Riyadh regime.
The ralliers further called on Iran’s diplomatic apparatus to take the necessary measures against the Saudi regime.
Sheikh Nimr was among 47 individuals who were put to death by Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
The senior cleric had been arrested in 2012 in the Qatif region of Saudi Arabia’s Shia-majority Eastern Province, which was the scene of peaceful anti-regime demonstrations at the time.
He had been charged with instigating unrest and undermining the kingdom’s security. He had rejected the charges as baseless.
His execution has drawn widespread condemnation from around the world.
