TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Wahhabi Mufti of Saudi Arabia has said making animation movies based on Quranic stories is not right.

Speaking in a satellite TV program, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh said it is not appropriate to narrate Quranic stories for children via animation movies, the newnevvs.com website reported.

He did not mention any reason or logic for his strange view and just said children will get nothing good from such movies.

Al Sheikh, who heads Saudi Arabia’s council of senior scholars, is known for his reactionary and strict views.

Last year, the top Saudi Sheikh reportedly issued a fatwa issued allowing men to eat their wife if they are starving.

He, however, denied issuing such a fatwa, describing the reports as "Attempts by enemies to distract society from their main cause at the moment.”
