TEHRAN (IQNA) – Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah condemned the Friday attacks on a Shias’ mosque in Saudi Arabia, which left at least 5 dead.

Speaking during a live televised speech on Friday, Nasrallah extended condolences to the families of those killed in the acts of terrorism.

He added that the terrorist attacks were the more reason for fighting the root causes of terrorism.

Earlier on Friday, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the courtyard of the Imam Reza Mosque (AS) in the town of Mahasen in Shia-majority province of al-Ahsa.

Another terrorist element also entered the mosque with a machine gun and started shooting.

Five worshippers were killed and some ten people were wounded in the attacks.

There was no early claim of responsibility for the attack but it resembled previous assaults by ISIL terrorist group.

Towns and cities in the Shia-dominated Eastern Province have been the site of peaceful demonstrations since February 2011. People have been voicing their protest at Riyadh’s oppressive policies against the country’s Shia minority.

Elsewhere in his speech, the Hezbollah chief denied accusations that Iran is meddling in the internal affairs of Lebanon, adding that there is absolutely no proof for the allegations.

He referred to the presidential vacuum in Lebanon and said Tehran has always reiterated that it is only the Lebanese nation who can make decisions about the fate of their country.

Iran has nothing to do with the presidential issue in Lebanon and has not and will not interfere in it, Nasrallah went on to say.
