TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkey's Religious Department, Diyanet, has embarked on a project aiming to translate and publish the Arabic text of the Holy Quran in at least 10 languages, including Albanian, Korean and Lithuanian.

The project's motto is "Do not let any language remain without the Quran's message," according to Diyanet.

The original text will be translated into Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Albanian, Portuguese, Bosnian, English, Bulgarian, Korean, Persian and Lithuanian.

"We do aim to translate and gradually publish the Holy Quran in all the languages spoken in the world. We will have published the translations by the end of 2016," said Yıldıray Kaplan, a senior official from Diyanet.

The project to publish Quran in foreign languages is actually the next step of a campaign that Diyanet launched in recent years. As part of the campaign, the original text of Holy Quran has been translated into 15 languages so far.

"The Quran translations into Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Albanian, Portuguese and Bosnian are still in progress," said Kaplan, head of Diyanet's office dealing with publication of the Islamic book in different languages and dialects.

"Shortly after they come out, we will begin translation works in other languages including English, Bulgarian, Korean, Persian and Lithuanian," he added.

The copies in different languages will be sent to countries where these languages are spoken. Anyone who wants to read the Muslim holy book will also have access to a digital translation.
