This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Hashem Hosseini, the cultural and social deputy of the province’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department, who also told IQNA that implementation of the plan began in 2012 at the order of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
He said 30,000 individuals from Tehran province signed up for attending the plan’s courses in the first year.

The number in the next three years rose to 45,000, 54,000, and 70,000, respectively, he added.
Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseini noted that the courses are held in Quranic and cultural centers as well as holy sites in the province.
Most of those taking the courses were aged between 7 and 18 and learned the last Juz (part) of the Holy Quran by heart, he stated.
There have been many efforts in Iran in the past few years to promote Quran memorization, especially after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s call for training 10 million memorizers of the Quran in the country.
