TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 24th Quran competition of the West African countries was organized in Dakar, Senegal.

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the closing ceremony of this edition of the Quranic event was held with the participation of the Iranian cultural attaché in Dakar.

The program was also attended by the representative of Senegal’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a number of religious, cultural and political figures of the country.

10 top Quran memorizers and Qaris recited the Holy Quran at the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, the Iranian official described Quranic diplomacy as the motto of the Iranian Cultural Center and stressed the need for unity of the Muslim Ummah and taking recourse to the Quran.

The Union of Senegalese Muslim Youth organizes the competition every year for Quran activists from Senegal, Mali, Mauritania and Gambia.

Winners of the competition are selected to participate at the international Quran competitions in Egypt, Libya, Kuwait, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
