TEHRAN (IQNA) – Palestinian resistance movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad slammed recent comments by a former Saudi spy chief at a gathering of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) in Paris, France.

A number of Saudi officials and supporters of MKO, including Prince Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, former Saudi intelligence chief and diplomat, attended the gathering of the terrorists in Paris on Saturday.

In his address, Turki al-Faisal claimed that Iran uses Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood to create chaos in the region.

Hamas in a statement condemned the comments, saying that they only tarnish the image of resistance and Palestine and serve the interests of the Zionist regime of Israel.

"We reject these baseless and fictitious accusations. The entire world knows that Hamas is a Palestinian movement resisting the Zionist occupiers inside Palestinian land and its plans are all in line with the interests of the Palestinian nation and the cause of Palestine, Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque,” Hamas said.

The Islamic Jihad movement also dismissed the allegations raised by Turki al-Faisal, saying his comments aim to deal a blow to Palestine and the Palestinian cause.

If you are unable to help the Palestinian nation, at least refrain from collaborating with the Zionist enemy, its statement said.

At the meeting of the MKO terrorists in Paris, Turki al-Faisal reaffirmed Riyadh’s commitment to supporting the anti-Iran group and vowed support for attempts to remove the Islamic Republic.

The MKO - listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community - fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq and was given a camp by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

They fought on the side of Saddam during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-88). They were also involved in the bloody repression of Shiite Muslims in southern Iraq in 1991 and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.

The notorious group is also responsible for killing thousands of Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic revolution in 1979.

More than 17,000 Iranians, many of them civilians, have been killed at the hands of the MKO in different acts of terrorism including bombings in public places, and targeted killings.
