TEHRAN (IQNA) – More than 600 Quran recitation sessions will be held during the Ten-Days of Dawn celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

600 Quranic Sessions Planned on Islamic Revolution Anniversary

Speaking at a press conference here in Tehran, Mehdi Qarasheikhlu, head of the Quran committee of a headquarters set up to hold programs marking the occasion, said the Quranic sessions will be organized in provinces all over the country.

He said holding Tawasheeh (religious signing) performances, Quran recitations by prominent Qaris, mounting Quran exhibitions, and holding forums featuring discussions on the role of the Holy Quran in the victory of the revolution and ways to promote the Quran are among other Quranic programs marking the 38th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

According to Qarasheikhlu, there will be also Quran competitions, including a nationwide contest on memorization of Surah al-Fajr, the 89th Surah of the Holy Quran.

During the ten-day celebrations, 60,000 copies of the Holy Book will be distributed in underdeveloped areas of the country, he noted.

The official added that the committee also plans to hold a ceremony to honor a number of the country’s Quran activists on the occasion.

He said 27 veteran Quran activists who are over 50 years of age and have had more than 25 years of Quranic activities will be among those to be honored at the ceremony.

Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran marks the beginning of the Ten Days of Dawn, which culminates with the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 38 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
