Ashraf, who lives in a small village in the North African country, has become so famous that the Awqaf Ministry selected him as one of the top 50 Qaris reciting the Quran in major events.
The news website al-Misriyun has conducted an interview with the young Qari, asking him about his achievements in the field of recitation.
Ashraf says he has been raised in a Quranic family. His father was a Quran instructor at al-Azhar Islamic Center and a Qari of al-Kawakibi Mosque. His grandfather was once named the Sheikh al-Qura (top Qari) of Giza province and all of his uncles are also memorizers of the Quran.
Born in 1994, in Nahiya Village, Giza province, Ashraf started learning the Quran by heart at the age of four.
He soon memorized the entire Quran at the village’s Quranic school and also learned the principles and rules of Tajweed.
Ashraf began reciting the Quran and soon became a popular Qari in Giza and then elsewhere in Egypt.
He says he loves and mostly imitates the Quran recitation style of late master Shahat Mohamed Anwar.
Ashraf underlines his love for the Quran and says although the path to becoming a successful Qari and memorizer of the Quran was a difficult one, it was also gratifying as it helped him develop a spiritual relation with the Book of God.
