Ceremonies in Zimbabwe Mark Birthday of Imam Reza, Hazrat Masoumeh

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A series of ceremonies have been held in Zimbabwe over the past few days on the occasion of the Keramat Ten-Day festival.

 

The Keramat festival marks the ten days between the birth anniversaries of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) and Imam Reza (AS) (which this year fall on July 15 and July 25 respectively.

The ceremonies were held for Shia communities in the cities of Harare (the capital), Kadoma and Mutare.

Prominent Iranian Qari Mehdi Soltani recited verses from the Quran at the programs and Iranian cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Assadi Movahed delivered speeches on the life and virtues of the 8th Shia Imam (AS) and his sister Hazrat Masoumeh (SA).

The ceremonies were organized with the cooperation of the Iranian Cultural Center in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique.  

Islam is the religion of around one percent of the population of Zimbabwe. The Muslim community consists primarily of South Asian immigrants (Indian and Pakistani), a small number of indigenous Zimbabweans, and a very small number of North African and Middle Eastern immigrants.
