80 Countries Expected at Kuwait Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 10th edition of Kuwait’s international Quran competition will kick off in the Arab country on Tuesday.

 

According to akherkhabartoday website, the capital, Kuwait City, will host the Quranic event.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Farid Emadi, head of the organizing committee, said representatives of 80 countries will take part in the competition.

He said memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed recitation, memorization of the entire Quran in ten recitation styles, and projects to serve the Quran are among the categories of the contest.

A new category in this year’s edition is the “teenage memorizers” category, he noted.

Emadi also said that Yemen, Kuwait and Libya, whose representatives have won the highest number of prizes in the previous editions will be honored for their achievements in this year’s competition.

Iran will have two representatives in the international Quranic event this year.

11-year-old Mohammad Yusef Darvishi will compete in the teenage memorizers category and Reza Golshahi will be Iran’s representative in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.
