7 Contenders Showcase Talents in Dubai Int’l Quran Award

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Seven memorizers of the Quran went on the stage Friday night to showcase their Quranic skills in the 23rd edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA).

 

They were from Algeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, the Philippines, and Gabon, al-Bayan daily reported.

The international Quranic event got underway on Tuesday, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of the DIHQA organizing committee, representatives of over 100 countries are attending the competition this year.

He said winners of the three top titles will receive cash prizes of 250,000, 200,000 and 150,000 UAE dirhams, respectively.  

Abdulkarim Ibrahim Salih from Egypt, Amin Idris Fallatah from Saudi Arabia, Salim Mohammad Al-Doubi from the UAE, Abdulhadi La’qab from Algeria, Ibranim Mohammad Kishidan from Libya and Ma’ani Al-Sheikh Hassan Ghansouri from Burkina Faso are members of the arbitration committee of the contest, he noted.

The Dubai international Holy Quran award is held on memorization of the entire Quran.

Mohammadreza Valimohammadi is representing Iran in this edition of the competition.
