Memorial Service Held in Qom for Senior Shia Cleric

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A memorial service was held in the holy city of Qom for senior cleric Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Hosseini Shahroudi.

The city’s Azam Mosque hosted the event on Tuesday after Maghrib and Isha prayers.

A large number of religious and political figures attended the memorial service.

Ayatollah Shahroudi, who lived in Qom after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, was a prominent Faqih (Islamic jurist) teaching in the seminaries of Najaf and Qom.

He died in a hospital in Tehran on Sunday and his funeral was held in Qom on Tuesday morning.
