Muslims Parade Held in Nottingham to Mark Holy Prophet Birthday
Hundreds of people joined the start of the procession from the Jameah Fatimiah Mosque in Berridge Road on Sunday, November 3.
Participants read scriptures from the Quran and passed gifts and chocolates to passers-by as they marked Mawlid Un Nabi.
Among those observing the birthday was Harris Hanif, a volunteer at the mosque in Berridge Road.
He said events like the parade were "vital", adding: "We want to get the real message of Islam out and the message of peace and make people aware we are just like any normal human beings.
"We hope we can inspire our own community and others as well."
The parade started just before 12 noon and headed towards the Forest Recreation Ground.
It then made its way along Mansfield Road, Milton Street, Lower Parliament Street and King Edward Street, before ending at The Islamic Centre in St Ann's Well Road.
Mohammed Ali, a trustee of The Islamic Centre, said: "It's something we look forward to throughout the whole year and there are lots of celebrations. The whole month is very special."
Ali added: "We want to show the love for the Prophet Muhammad that Muslims have and how he taught us to spread peace."
